Farmers still suffering from drought
Thursday Jun 21 11:56 AEST
A coastal deluge that flooded parts of NSW this month has brought little relief to drought-stricken inland areas, Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald says.
Average rainfall across almost all of NSW did make a small dent in the area of the state affected by drought, providing some hope for farmers.
Mr Macdonald said the area of the state now affected by drought was 80.3 per cent, down from 83.3 per cent last month.
However, the affected area is still higher than the 78.5 per cent recorded in April.
Mr Macdonald said figures showed 10.4 per cent of the state was considered to be on the borderline of drought, up from 9.8 per cent.
The satisfactory area is 9.3 per cent, up from 6.9 per cent last month.
"There has been a promising start out there for the cropping regime and we've got a large amount of our normal crop already planted but the heavy rainfalls in Sydney have not been replicated west of the divide," Mr Macdonald told reporters.
"We would anticipate if we do get some good rainfall west of the divide we will get a more normal crop yield this year."
Despite record Sydney rainfall in June, major dams in regional NSW such as Wyangala and Burrendong remained as low four per cent capacity, he said.
"This is not a very good situation but we are hopeful that there is a change to the weather pattern," Mr Macdonald said.
"We seem to be heading into a more normal winter phase and this could bring further rainfall to assist those crops through to harvest."

A children's day in Korea~~
Fifth of May is Children's Day in Korea.
It used to be my favorite holiday during child hood. On that day, children usually receive some presents from their parents. I also received them like a doll, Lego, puzzle and so on. During children's day many families also go on a picnic to an amusement park, a zoo or the movie theater to make their children happy.
Except for this holiday, there were other three days which I liked, which were Christmas, my birthday and the Chinese New Year's Day. On those days, I could get some valuable things without spending my own pocket money. I'm sure that everyone knows the reason why I liked my birthday and Christmas! On Chinese New Year's Day especially, relatives usually gave me money after I performed a New Year's bow. I had lots of relatives- maybe.... more than 20?? So~ after bowing, I could buy pretty dolls and delicious snacks as many as I wanted because my relatives had given me lots of money! ^^ hhh. Furthermore, I could meet my cousins who I was really familiar with!! I was very happy on Chu-Suk(Chinese New Year's Day) .
These 4 days are still my favorite holidays~!! They are wonderful days.

What I've learned for 2 weeks ^^
First of all, nowadays, I'm really satisfied with my class study. So I'm very happy ^______^
Especially, I think the new method of memorizing vocabulary is much more effective than a vocabulary book. I think I've already studied lots of words after doing it.
Every week's journals are also nice~! I could check my grammar or some wrong words every week and review those things by writing. It was so helpful.
I could also improve my confidence by an oral presentation. My class mates and Helen adviced somthing about intonation and incorrect grammar. It was also really good for me to make better next time. I could exactly realise about my faults.
Other good thing is that only one teacher has taught us.
It doesn't make the studying stream cut off. We don't have to confuse with what we are studying now. We can just continuously go on studying.
Untill now, there hasn't been bad things about studying and I'm look forward to future study, too. I'm sure that it will be nice.
